Hollywood studios and producers are being offered film and television rights to an upcoming book said to contain new details of the death of Osama bin Laden.
The Hollywood Reporter says Chuck Pfaffer, author of "SEAL Target Geronimo: The Inside Story of the Mission to Kill Osama bin Laden," was in Los Angeles Friday to shop the rights of the book, which is scheduled for release Nov. 8.
Pfaffer, a former U.S. Navy SEAL commander and author of a best-selling memoir, is said to have received a firsthand account of the raid on bin Laden's compound in Pakistan from SEALs who were there. Sources told The Hollywood Reporter the book's account of the raid is at odds with the official White House version.
A movie about the raid is already being made by director Kathryn Bigelow and writer Mark Boal for Sony, with a release date scheduled for the fall of 2012. While not specifically dealing with the bin Laden killing, another Navy SEALs movie, Act of Valor, from Relativity Media is scheduled for release in February.
