Military Appreciation and Giving Back to Veterans on Veterans Day
Consider supporting organizations that support the military, veterans, and their families.
The following are organizations who are making a special effort to recognize Veterans Day by donating a portion of their sales to veteran causes or featuring special programs that give back to veterans during the month of November. Companies that are giving back to the military include:
AARP -- In honor of Veterans Day, AARP is offering a special discounted membership rate to everyone from November 3 to November 30, 2016. AARP will also make a donation to Fisher House Foundation in support of their work helping military families.
Baskin-Robbins -- On November 11, Baskin-Robbins will support America’s service members and military families by donating 11 cents from every ice cream scoop sold at Baskin-Robbins locations nationwide to the United Service Organizations (USO).
Boston Bruins -- The Bruins honor local military members, veterans, and their families at Military Appreciation Night on Thursday, November 10. Season Ticket Holders and Game Plan Holders with a ticket to the Blue Jackets game on November 10 can donate their seats to local military programs. Cracker Barrel -- Between Nov. 1 – 11, guests can join Cracker Barrel in supporting Operation Homefront in two ways. Cracker Barrel will donate 10 percent of proceeds from eligible online and in-store purchases of its iconic rocking chairs. Guests may also donate $5 to Operation Homefront by using a mobile device to text SERVE to 27722 or by clicking here. Cracker Barrel will match donations received up to $25,000.
Denny’s -- Denny’s is extending their support of America’s heroes with a $23,000 donation to Fisher House Foundation, a non-profit organization providing free accommodation for military and veterans’ families during medical treatment. The donation, in the form of Denny’s gift cards, will help feed nearly 1,000 families during their stay at a Fisher House.
Hair Cuttery – This Veterans Day, join Hair Cuttery in honoring and giving back to former servicemen and women through its Share-A-Haircut program. For every haircut purchased by Hair Cuttery patrons on Veterans Day, November 11, a free haircut certificate will be donated back to a veteran. Certificates are donated to recipients in the same community where the haircut was purchased.
O'Charley's -- O’Charley’s has partnered with The Folded Flag Foundation, an organization that provides scholarships and educational support grants to families of fallen soldiers. The restaurant is donating $0.25 for every 22oz. beer sold now through Veteran’s Day Weekend (November 13) to The Folded Flag Foundation.
Sport Clips -- Now through Veterans Day, November 11, you can “Help A Hero” further their education toward post-military goals when you get a haircut at Sport Clips Haircuts locations across the U.S. On Veterans Day, Sport Clips will also donate a dollar from every haircut service to the VFW-administered scholarship program.
Starbucks -- Now through November 11, for every Veterans Day Starbucks Card or eGift purchased, Starbucks will contribute $5 to help support programs that direct veterans to use their skills, experience and commitment to help create positive change in their communities: Team Rubicon, Team Red, White & Blue, and The Mission Continues.
