Military Appreciation and Giving Back to Veterans on Veterans Day

The following are organizations who are making a special effort to recognize Veterans Day by donating a portion of their sales to veteran causes or featuring special programs that give back to veterans during the month of November. Companies that are giving back to the military include:

Bar Louie -- Through its week-long "Mission for Vets" campaign, from November 5 to 12, Bar Louie invites its guests to donate via an add-on to their checks. All proceeds will be donated to Operation Homefront's Critical Financial Assistance program to help veterans and their families in need.

bd's Mongolian Grill -- From Monday, October 29 through Veterans Day on Sunday, November 11, guests at bd's Mongolian Grill locations can buy a $2 pin-up to support Folds of Honor. Guests will be able to write-in who they "dedicate" the pin-up to. In addition, on Veterans Day, each bd's location will donate 10 percent of food sales to support a local Folds of Honor chapter.

BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse -- During the month of November, BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse and Dr Pepper are contributing 11,000 Pizookies® to the restaurant’s ‘Buy a Hero a Pizookie’ program. Current or retired military simply claim a Pizookie® here from November 1 through November 30, while supplies last. Once claimed, the offer is emailed and valid for 72 hours. Guests who would like to honor these heroes can contribute $1 or more on their restaurant bill to the program. 

Boston Bruins -- The Bruins honor local military members, veterans, and their families at Military Appreciation Night on Monday, November 5. If you already have tickets to Military Appreciation Night on November 5, you can donate them to local military members and their families. Click here to learn how to donate or receive tickets.

Boston’s Pizza Restaurant and Sports Bar – The restaurant is featuring its "Dine to Donate" campaign. In honor of Veterans Day on November 11, The Boston's Pizza Foundation will donate up to 10 percent of all sales, up to $15,000, to The National Veterans Foundation (NVF).

Christmas Decor -- is continuing its Decorated Family Program this year to “transform the homes of servicemen and woman into magical winter wonderlands this holiday season.” The program is designed as a morale booster for military families across the nation who will spend the holidays separated from their loved ones. Submit nominations for friends and family here. The deadline for nominations is Veterans Day, November 11, 2018.

Dollar General -- From November 16 through December 7, Dollar General will host local toy drives to make the holidays brighter for families this season in partnership with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.  Also beginning on November 16, Dollar General will host an in-store fundraiser to benefit the St. Jude Thanks and Giving® campaign through December 16.  Customers can donate in all Dollar General store locations to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. To further support these initiatives, Dollar General plans to donate $100,000 to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation and $75,000 to the St. Jude Thanks and Giving® campaign.

Genghis Grill -- Beginning October 29th Genghis Grill customers can donate $2 or more to Folds of Honor to support educational scholarships for the families of the fallen and for disabled service members. The program runs through Veterans Day, November 11, 2018 and Genghis Grill conclude the fundraiser by donating 10 percent of the days proceeds to Folds of Honor.

Goodyear Auto Service and Just Tires -- Goodyear Auto Service and Just Tires locations are donating up to $10,000 to Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization that provides educational scholarships to families of military who have fallen or been disabled while on active duty in the U.S. armed forces. Folds of Honor will receive $5 for every veteran or first responder who redeems the "Checks for Vets" offer during the promotional period. Effective Nov. 9-11, the "Checks for Vets" promotion includes free tire, brake and battery checks.

Hair Cuttery -- For every haircut purchased by Hair Cuttery patrons on Veterans Day, Sunday, Nov. 11 and the observed holiday on Monday, Nov. 12, a free haircut certificate will be donated back to aveteran in the same community to say, "thank you." Hair Cuttery partners with veteran's organizations across the U.S., including, the American Red Cross, Operation Sacred Trust and regional Veterans Affairs offices to distribute the free haircut certificates.

Lucille’s Smokehouse and Bar-B-Que -- Donate $5 or more to Round it Up America® in November and receive a $10 bonus card good toward your next visit. Proceeds go toward Operation Homefront, and Lucille’s will donate $1.00 for every Classic Smash purchased to support Military Family Month.

Meineke -- For every oil change purchased now through November 13th, participating Meineke locations will donate $5 to Operation Homefront to support their mission to build strong, stable, and secure military families. Find a participating location near you:

MoneyLion -- Starting on Veterans Day, MoneyLion will donate $5 for each service member or spouse that signs up for any MoneyLion account, including MoneyLion Core and Plus memberships, during the month of November. Additionally, MoneyLion Plus members can donate $1 from their investment accounts to the Semper Fi Fund on Veterans Day through the mobile app. MoneyLion will match any donations made to the Semper Fi Fund on Veterans Day from its current members.

NFLs #SaluteToService -- Between November 1 and November 19th, the NFL will donate to their non-profit partners with every use of #SaluteToService on Twitter. Each use of the hashtag will generate a $5 donation, up to $5 million, for organizations including the Pat Tillman Foundation, TAPS, USO, Wounded Warrior Project and the Bob Woodruff Foundation. On Veteran’s Day, the NFL will increase their donation to $25.

Outback Steakhouse -- Outback Steakhouse is partnering with Operation Homefront to help make life a little easier for our military, veterans and families in their communities. You can add $1 to your check to donate to Operation Homefront. And your minimum donation of $5 will go towards donating a meal to a military family.

Pilot Flying J – In honor of their 60th anniversary and to celebrate Veterans Day, Pilot Flying J will be donating $2 million dollars to more than 20 nonprofit organizations like Hire Heroes USA, Bunker Labs, Fisher House and Folds of Honor. Funds will support veterans and their families in the form of free housing for those caring for injured loved ones.

Scooter’s Coffee -- On November 11th and 12th, customers will be able to add a dollar donation for Wounded Warriors Family Support to their order. WWFS is an organization dedicated to assisting the families of those wounded, injured or killed in action.

SmileDirectClub -- The doctor-directed, at-home invisible aligner therapy company will be donating 10% of the sales from their military and veterans’ discount program to the Fisher House Foundation, a military-based nonprofit which creates comfort homes where military and veterans’ families can stay while a loved one is receiving treatment.

Sallie Mae -- Sallie Mae will commemorate Veterans Day with a tribute to military service members and a $50,000 contribution to Folds of Honor from The Sallie Mae Fund, the company’s charitable foundation. Since 2014, the company has provided more than $250,000 to Folds of Honor in order to provide scholarships for children and spouses of disabled and fallen military service members.

Southeastern Grocers Inc. -- Through November 12, customers can join Southeastern Grocers to honor veterans, military and their families by making a donation to Folds of Honor while shopping at any BI-LO, Harveys Supermarket or Winn-Dixie store. 

Sport Clips -- Now through through Veterans Day, November 11, Sport Clips locations around the country want you to “Help A Hero” by donating to the VFW’s Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship program. And on Veterans Day, $1 from every haircut service will be donated to the program. 

Starbucks -- When you give a Starbucks Veterans Card or eGift now through November 11, Starbucks will donate $5 to Team RubiconTeam RWB and The Mission Continues. And for every hot brewed coffee purchased on Veterans Day at participating Starbucks stores, they will donate 15 cents to Blue Star Families.

Suave -- Suave will donate $1 for every purchase of limited-edition packs sold and $1 for every specially-marked coupon redeemed from October 14, 2018 through November 18, 2018.
