The Biggest Source of News for the U.S. Military Community

Military.com was founded in 1999 by a veteran who simply wanted to be able to navigate the world of defense information and benefits in a more streamlined and efficient way. Today, we honor that goal by always remembering who we serve and why members need to know about their credit cards before heading abroad.

Our Standards & Newsroom

Military.com is built on a newsroom that understands military life firsthand, and clear standards that guide how we report, review, and update what we publish.

Our newsroom has been honored with the top awards for reporting on the military community, including the Gerald R. Ford Journalism Prize for Distinguished Reporting on National Defense and the Joe Galloway Award, presented by Military Reporters and Editors. That work has yielded countless changes to military policy to help protect and assist service members, veterans and their families.

Our passion for informing and serving as a watchdog for the military community is deeply embedded in our publication, with a majority of our staff made up of veterans, retirees, military spouses and spouses of veterans. Half of our reporting team served in the military, including three veterans who have received Military Veterans in Journalism’s Top Vets in Journalism Award.
