Does Your Spouse Have Insurance?

The spouse of an AAFMAA member is eligible for all of the same great policies that members have access to purchase. If you haven?t gotten your spouse insurance through AAFMAA, please consider doing it now. Our rates are low and our guarantees are secure. Spouses can apply for the following policies (provided they meet the age requirements, etc):

Level Term I to age 50*? this policy is a low-cost policy that covers insureds from age 18 ? 50*. The premium and death benefit remain level until age 50. At age 50, the policy will decrease to 27% of its initial face amount and at age 55* the coverage will decrease to 20% of the initial face amount. It will then terminate at age 60*. The policy has the following features:

  • Individual policy, not linked to member?s
  • Convertible to Value-Added Whole Life at any time without additional medical underwriting
  • Convertible to Five-Year Renewable term before age 48 without additional medical underwriting
  • Unlike SGLI, it can continue even if the member?s policy is terminated.
  • Examples of premiums:
    o $800,000 for $35/mo
    o $300,000 for $15/mo
    o $100,000 for $5.90/mo
    o $50,000 for $2.95/mo

*subtract 10 years for nicotine users.

Level Term II ? You select the coverage amount and term you need from five ? 30 years. The premium and coverage amount remain the same for the entire term. See the chart here for various quotes, but go online or call a Membership Coordinator toll-free at 1-877-398-2263 for quotes specific to your age.
