U.S. television star Alec Baldwin says he is "very, very interested" in a career in politics, but not quite ready to give up acting yet to pursue it.
Baldwin has earned numerous awards for his work in the sitcom "30 Rock."
CNN said Eliot Spitzer asked him in an interview to air Wednesday on the cable network's "Parker Spitzer" if he is ready to "get into this game," meaning politics. Baldwin has said in the past he would consider running for office if the opportunity arose.
"The answer is: Yes, it's something that I am very, very interested in," Baldwin told Spitzer. "People would say to me all the time, 'Why would you want to do that?' And sometimes I don't want to do it because to leave what I am doing now would be extremely painful."
Baldwin went on to say he loves how his acting career has been going lately.
"However, I do believe that people want to believe that someone, who deeply cares about the middle class ... would like to see public office," CNN quoted him as saying.
