Sheriff Upset by Middle Finger Photo Story

United Press International

Sheriff Upset by Middle Finger Photo StoryThe sheriff of a Georgia county said a reporter invaded his privacy by friending him on Facebook to see a picture of him with his middle finger raised.

WGCL-TV, Atlanta, said a concerned citizen sent in a picture from Clayton County Sheriff Kem Kimbrough's Facebook page of him flipping the bird and reporter Wendy Saltzman sent Kimbrough a friend request so she could see the image as posted on the site.

"That's basically an invasion of my privacy, that's the way I look at it," Kimbrough told a WGCL news crew who asked him about the photo.

"Which is why I'm going to be making a complaint against Wendy Saltzman with your editor for sending me a friend request, under false pretenses. I mean, because that's what she did it for," Kimbrough said.

He said the friend request was under "false pretenses" because she did not tell him she was "investigating a story" when she sent it.

Kimbrough has taken Saltzman off his friends list. WGCL said the citizen who originally sent in the picture said it has since been taken down and the sheriff has posted disparaging comments about the news organization on his page.
