Men Claim 'Bomb' Scare Was 'Bong' TalkTwo men at the center of a bomb scare on a Washington state ferry said the incident was a misunderstanding stemming from a conversation about a "bong."

San Juan County Sheriff Bill Cumming said several passengers on the Yakima ferry reported overhearing the men identifying themselves as terrorists and saying there was a bomb in their belongings, The Journal of the San Juans, Friday Harbor, Wash., reported Monday.

Cumming said the boat was searched when it arrived in Friday Harbor and no explosives were found. He said the men claimed the reports were a misunderstanding.

"What we were talking about was taking some 'bong' hits and somebody I guess thought we said we had a bomb," one of the men told authorities. "I'm moving away from the island and we're having a party later on tonight."

However, Cumming said he does not believe the men's claims of a misunderstanding.

"I think they said 'bong' just to cover their tracks," he said.

Cumming said the ferry was delayed for about 30 minutes and reports were forwarded to state and federal authorities.
