A Georgia couple are suing a grocery store chain and cereal company, claiming the man found a used tampon in his cereal bowl after he began eating.
Thomas and Lynn Roddenberry said they bought a box of Chocolate Chip Crunch cereal from the Save-A-Lot store in Thomaston, Ga., in October 2008. When eating a bowl of cereal and milk the next day, Roddenberry said he found the used feminine hygiene product, The (Macon, Ga.) Telegraph reported Saturday.
Roddenberry said he spat out the food, became nauseated and went to a hospital emergency for treatment, the complaint filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Macon said.
The cereal didn't show signs of tampering, the suit said.
Roddenberry claims he sustained physical injuries "from the adulterated food" and emotional worry, the suit said. The Roddenberrys seek unspecified general and special damages, and court costs.
Neither Save-A-Lot nor cereal manufacturer Ralston Foods commented when asked about the suit, The Telegraph said.
