Ice-T Charges Blamed on Clerical Error Charges brought against rapper and actor Ice-T for driving with a suspended license and no seat-belt have been dismissed, New York officials said.

Ice-T reportedly was waiting at the entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel last month when the mirror of his car brushed against a police officer at a random checkpoint, prompting the officer to try to pull the performer over.

The star allegedly kept going, so the cop ran up to his car and banged on its tinted window to get him to stop. When he did, police said they discovered he had been driving with a suspended license, had no valid insurance and was not wearing a seat belt. The actor was taken to a police station, given a desk-appearance ticket for Tuesday and released.

However, Manhattan prosecutors said at Tuesday's hearing the 52-year-old hip-hop star's license had never been suspended and blamed the misunderstanding on a New York Department of Motor Vehicles clerical error, the New York Post reported.

"That's what I'm talking about!" the Post reported Ice-T, a cast member on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" for the past decade, said as he walked out of the courtroom.

"Dismissed!" he told fans and defendants as he left.

"Like I said from the gate, I never broke the law," he told reporters outside. "I never had knowledge of any suspension. That's why I got so angry when they put me in handcuffs."
