On May 14-20, 2012 in Washington, DC the award-winning GI Film Festival (GIFF), the nation's first and only military film festival, will offer 42 film screenings, red carpet parties, live music, celebrity meet-and-greets and more. Click here for details.

Overall, GI Film Festival films represent every branch of the military and span five wars. Over the course of the six-day event, the festival will offer 23 narrative films and 19 documentaries covering every genre conceivable – from action and adventure to comedy to drama and romance.

With at least a dozen world premiere screenings, GIFF offers plenty of opportunities to discover emerging directors, producers and actors. And GIFF is proud to welcome many promising and established military veteran filmmakers as well. (Buy tickets here!)

Exciting events are schedule EVERY day at the 2012 festival. Here are just a few:

On Thursday May 17, GIFF will provide an advanced screening of Universal Pictures' BATTLESHIP, directed by Peter Berg. The BATTLESHIP screening takes place on Wounded Warrior Appreciation Night.

Actors from Lifetime's Army Wives will be on hand to receive "GI Family Award" on Military Spouse Appreciation Night, May 19. Afterwards, see the world premiere screening of Memorial Day, starring James Cromwell and a VIP cocktail reception.

The festival will also host an International Warrior Night with television personality Pat Sajak at the Canadian Embassy on Wednesday May 16 and will honor actor Joe Mantegna on Tuesday, May 15 with the festival’s GI Spirit Award for his support of our nation’s servicemen and women.
