"I THOUGHT MY LEG WAS GONE. THAT WAS ONE TERRIBLE FEELING" ~ David Clinton Tharp, COMES A Soldier's Whisper My father wrote this in one of his collection of wartime letters now preserved in the book, Comes A Soldier's Whisper. You can read this letter in its' entirety on the website www.comesasoldierswhisper.com But after serving with the 101st Airborne with the 502nd PIR, he miraculously made it through D-Day, Carentan, Holland and the Battle of the Bulge with, as he also wrote, "with my life and body intact." Many, however are not as fortunate returning back home with the battle scars, some visible and some not.
