I will give Nixon this. He really did bring the North to its knees. I saw plenty of film, interviews, and when Kissinger went to bargain, he would portray Nixon as a "mad man" who would utterly destroy Hanoi. LBJ should had done the same, long before this.
The cell had already been shortened to 2 aircraft due to an abort. The remaining 2 were both G models with inferior ECM jammers, and were more vulnerable to the SAMs. The EW was a close friend of mine and a senior instructor, so his expertise was not in question. He was simply in the wrong place, with the wrong model aircraft at the wrong time. Rest in peace, Nutter.
Damn that was intense just listening to it I can't imagine actually being there.
