A new children's book, written by a former Soldier and single mother, helps to explain why mom deployed and how to cope with the emotions associated with her departure. The main character of the book, a young girl bear-cub, has to deal with her mother going on deployment.

The Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers program "is the collective voice of the single Soldier" which represents 49 percent of the Army. More than 46 participants from Department of the Army, Installation Management Command, units and garrisons around Europe shared ideas about how to support those troops during a BOSS training.

When the ribbons fell to the ground Wednesday outside the model privatized apartment at Fort Bragg, it marked the beginning of a new way to house single Soldiers. The Randolph Pointe community is scheduled to open in early 2009, featuring 312 one- and two-bedroom apartment homes for single or unaccompanied officers and senior noncommissioned officers.

Two employees' suggestion will save the depot over $78,000 per year. The test aid is used to troubleshoot the A1A1 circuit card, which is part of a circuit card assembly (CCA). The CCA is a component of the AN/ARC-186, a small, lightweight radio used in the Black Hawk helicopter.

When an improvised explosive device detonated along Seattle's Alaskan Way Viaduct late last week, the reverberations of the blast, and the ensuing chemical truck explosion and release of potentially deadly methyl isocyanate gas, could be felt as far away as Texas, Arkansas, Kentucky, Maryland and North Carolina. At least in theory.

Technicians here supporting a new repair program have rapidly repaired thousands of night vision systems stateside and overseas. The repair program, called Communications Electronics Evaluation Repair Team, or CEER-T, supports the test and repair mission (called Reset) of night vision systems and the Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System used in Southwest Asia.
