Taliban militants were nowhere in sight as the columns of Marines walked a third straight day across southern Afghanistan. But the desert heat proved an enemy in its own right. Marines carry 50-100 pounds on their backs. But because they are marching through farmland, they can't carry nearly as much water as they need.
A missing U.S. Soldier has been sold to a militant clan, a U.S. military official said. The unidentified senior military official told CNN the Soldier, whose name was not released, was captured and then sold to a group led by the infamous warlord Siraj Haqqani.
