Education In The Military: The GI Bill Kicker

The Army, Navy, and Marine Corps College Funds

If you are considering joining the military, you probably already know about the GI Bill, but what you may not have heard of is the GI Bill Kicker -- also known as the Army College Fund, Navy College Fund or Marine Corps College Fund.

The GI Bill kicker is
an educational benefit that is added to your GI Bill. The kicker can increase your monthly GI Bill payment rate by as much as $350 a month. This means that you can actually boost your regular GI Bill benefit value from $37,000 to over $71,000. The amount you receive is determined by a number of factors including the length of your enlistment contract, the service you join, the job you choose and where you choose to serve. Your recruiter can help you determine how you can get the most of this valuable benefit.

The GI Bill Kicker is also available to you if you choose to join the reserve, meet the current requirements and accept the Reserve GI Bill. If you qualify for the Reserve GI Bill Kicker you could increase your Reserve GI Bill benefit to $23,292.

Note: The GI Bill Kicker is only made available to you when you first enlist so be sure to ask you recruiter about your eligibility before you sign up

Remember, you can’t get your GI Bill Kicker money without receiving the GI Bill. The kicker isn’t a separate benefit, but an add-on to your GI Bill benefit.
