The Marines' Memorial Association asks for your help to aid severely wounded Marines, Sailors and Soldiers sustaining horrid, long term, long recovery-time injuries. These wounds require much more hospitalization and rehabilitation before they are processed by a Board to medically discharge them.
As they are being treated in medical facilities, their families are forced to bear the financial burden of travel expenses to the hospitals and the cost of lodging, food, and child care while they are visiting their loved ones.
The wives of the I Marine Expeditionary Force have formed a 501c3 foundation to raise funds to help these families be with the wounded, which helps the wounded Marines heal faster.
If you would like to help these wounded Marines and their families, send your tax deductible donation to:

The Perfect Slogan for Today's Navy
August 2, 2004
In the summer of 2001, on the heels of their successful "Accelerate Your Life" recruiting campaign for the Navy, advertising agency Campbell-Ewald was tasked to develop a simple public service announcement (PSA) meant to convey the Navy's core mission of projecting power globally to protect and defend America.
Several ideas were kicked around, and a few were under serious consideration by the agency. Then, the events of September 11th unfolded, and one of the candidate slogans seemed to capture the fresh sense of danger and combine it with the renewed pride and determination felt throughout the fleet - "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of All Who Threaten It."
The slogan was the brainchild of Campbell-Ewald's Dan Ames, and it was successfully test marketed and first aired on a cable channel on Jan. 27, 2002. On May 17, 2002 the print advertisement premiered in "Boy's Life" magazine and "Entertainment Weekly." The ad has rotated through a number of publications since.
"Life. Liberty and the Pursuit of All Who Threaten It" follows a string of memorable expressions intended to capture the essence and spirit of the Navy. Most of the better-known expressions were also developed as part of a recruiting campaign. Some were light in nature such as "Sailors Have More Fun," "Go Navy," and "Fly Navy." Others evoke a sense of excitement including "Join the Navy and see the World," "You and the Navy, Full Speed Ahead, and "It's Not just a job. It's an Adventure!" The most recent, "Accelerate Your Life," which debuted on Mar 14, 2001 accentuates pride and achievement.
While "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of All Who Threaten It" was intended to convey a sense of the Navy's mission, it has become a focus of determination, pride and patriotism. Certainly no one could have anticipated the incredible degree with which sailors have embraced the ad and its sentiment. Petty Officer First Class Sandra Goodrum sums it up by saying, "The Navy is about standing up for your country and what it represents."
There is no question about its popularity: "Life, Liberty…" is everywhere, from t-shirts being sold in the U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt ship's store, to the wall of the "Battlestations" area at Naval Training Center, Great Lakes. Several Flag Officers including Admirals Jeffrey Fowler and Terry McCreary, and Chief of Naval Operations Vernon Clark have all used the slogan as a backdrop or PowerPoint slide for speaking engagements. Admiral McCreary said "Life. Liberty and the Pursuit of All Who Threaten It" perfectly captures the Navy spirit during a time of crisis."
"Life, Liberty..." appears on bumper stickers, luggage tags, screen savers and it is also emblazoned on the back of the trailer used to haul the NASCAR showcar/simulator. It was even included in the graphic design used in the announcement for the naming of the forthcoming San Antonio Class amphibious transport dock USS New York (LPD-21).
Slogans come and go, some have more saying power than others. Does "Life. Liberty and the Pursuit of All Who Threaten It" have staying power? Some respondents to the test marketing of the slogan said, "There will always be evil against which we will have to defend our country." But, ADM Clark probably put it best in a recent interview when he stated, "The president said, 'We are going to keep these terrorists on the run.' To do that the Navy and Marine Corps team have committed themselves to being out there. Our goal is to make sure that (the terrorists) understand that our mantra is now 'Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of All Who Threaten It."
