McLean, Va – Military.com launched an Android app today that will keep service members up-to-date on breaking military news and the latest benefits information from their Android mobile device.
The "Military News" app will feature a "Home" feed that will display the most recent military headlines, benefits updates and a combined feed of more than 20 topics covered at Military.com. Topics include popular Military.com sections like Pay & Benefits, Fitness, Spouse and Family, Military and Veteran Discounts and videos, among others.
Greg Smith, President of Military.com and retired Navy admiral said, "We know more and more people are accessing information on their mobile devices. We have a deep commitment to our audience and we are always seeking new ways to provide the military member, veteran and their families the most up-to-date information in a personalized way."
Android app users can personalize their "Home" feed and content so that only the topics they want to view are visible. Users can deselect topics they are not interested in and they can also rank topics that are the most important to them, which will reshuffle the navigation to reflect their interests.
The app will also feature notifications to ensure users are informed of the latest military related news as it happens across all of the topics included within the app.
The new Android App augments Military.com's current line-up of mobile apps which includes apps for the iPhone and iPad, as well as the Military Pay by Military.com app for both the Android and iOSplatforms. The new Android App is the counterpart to the already launched iOS app for both iPhone and iPad, which together have more than 315,000 downloads in the Apple App Store.
