Objective tools and resources support an informed choice by those considering military service
SAN FRANCISCO and WASHINGTON, DC -- Military.com, the largest online military destination and the Internet presence of Military Advantage, today launched the "Insiders Guide to Joining the Military" (http://www.recruiting.military.com) to help people make informed choices about joining the military.
With over 1 million members, Military.com serves the needs of active duty, reservists, retirees, veterans and family members. Military.com (www.military.com) has also emerged as a leading destination for those considering military service. Ten percent of the Military.com audience has expressed interest in joining the armed forces, and hundreds of thousands of visitors use Military.com's free resources and tools to help in their decision regarding a military career.
"No Bull, No Bias, No Pressure"
Military.com's "Insider's Guide to Joining the Military" provides information to consumers with "no bull, no bias and no pressure". The "Insider's Guide" provides free ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) test preparation, tools for matching personal interests to the 4,100 different jobs in the military, and a comparative tool to help in the evaluation of different branches of service.
Also included are recommended questions to ask the recruiter, options for full and part-time (reserve/guard) service, ROTC scholarship programs, and more. Discussion boards and other community features allow visitors to interact with active duty service members, veterans and others considering the military.
Informed, Interested Candidates
Military.com provides objective information about the training, discipline and commitment that accompany the pay, benefits, experience and adventure of military service. Visitors can elect to contact a recruiter, or reach out to recruiters from multiple branches of the service, to obtain additional information or pursue their interest in joining.
Developed with Input from Potential Recruits, Parents & Other Influencers
Created by veterans, Military.com developed the Insider's Guide in response to feedback from potential recruits, parents, guidance counselors and recruiters. Research indicated that those considering military service often hesitated to begin their investigation into a military career by talking with a recruiter.
Consumers seek anonymous, low-pressure ways to learn about the benefits, understand requirements, prepare for the ASVAB, and make sense of the complicated process that differs from service to service. Most consumers had interest in multiple branches of service, but were unclear about how to make the choice. For those without a family member or close friend in the service, a resource to explore aspects of military service at their own pace was sought as a complement to official service websites, recruiters and materials.
"Our Insider's Guide assists people in making an informed choice, then connects interested and enthusiastic people with recruiters," said Christopher Michel, CEO of Military Advantage and a Naval Reservist, "It's a privilege to support the flow of strong, motivated candidates into our armed forces, and to see young people excited about the prospects of service to this nation".
