Personality Assessment Key to Military Skills Translation & Job Search

McLean, Va - Military.com released a new, personality assessment-based version of their popular Military Skills Translator (MST) today in order to help veterans better understand what they are qualified to do and what career fields may best match their interests and skill sets.

The Military Skills Translator is designed to allow job seekers and recruiters to directly translate military experience and skills into civilian terminology. But not all veterans want to work in the same job they had in the military, or they may want to see how those skills can be leveraged in a new career field.

Military Skills Translator + Personality Assessment was developed using existing military skills information and blending that with technology developed by Traitify to go beyond skills translation and incorporate personality testing.

Traitify invented an entirely new assessment format which is image-based, mobile-friendly and takes ninety seconds to complete. The Traitify Career Discovery tool gives job seekers tailored recommendations on which career fields are best suited to their personalities.

Traitify’s Career Discovery tool typically has a ninety-five percent completion rate. After the military member or veteran completes the test, the Traitify results are paired with MST’s existing robust data base of primary, secondary and tertiary skills sets related to military occupational codes. Veterans then see relevant career results and available jobs within those industries.

“I can’t believe that such a quick and easy assessment can deliver such accurate results.  The information revealed through the assessment is valuable through every step of the job search, from exploring career paths to finding open positions, to acing the interview,” said Lindsay L. Teplesky, a veteran of the U.S. Army and National Guard.

Teplesky added, “I highly recommend the Military Skills Translator + Personality Assessment for all transitioning service members and military veterans looking to jumpstart their civilian careers.”

The Traitify test measures fifty-six different personality traits on scales and measures each one multiple times to ensure accuracy. A veteran’s individual traits are then mapped to optimal traits for specific career fields. The veteran is then shown a prioritized view of career matches based on best fit, and is even exposed to career fields they may not have even known they were suited to.

“Service members are asked all the time what they want to do when they get out of the military and the most common answer is ‘I don’t know.’ Adding personality assessment to our existing Military Skills Translator helps them answer that question and can shatter preconceived notions of who they thought they were,” said Terry Howell, Senior Director for Alliances and Operations for Military.com.

"Military.com is the leader in veteran employment and we are honored to partner with them to help veterans connect with jobs that fit not just their military skills, but also their unique personality," said Dan Sines, CEO and Founder of Traitify. "Companies committed to hiring veterans need innovative approaches to aligning culture and mission. This new tool takes a big leap forward on enabling truly personalized job recommendations for veterans."

Employers benefit because the tool enhances their ability to engage with veteran job seekers. Veterans and transitioning military personnel will be better prepared to apply for those jobs that best match their skill sets and their personality profiles resulting in stronger candidates for employers to choose from. The technology is also optimized for desktop and mobile platforms to work with an employer’s existing recruitment outreach.
