I used to train at Dugway Proving Grounds. If memory serves correctly in 1968 during a live test of a nerve agent several hundred sheep were killed and some local ranchers and other residents near the area were made quite ill for a time. About a year after Desert Storm, we all had to switch out our gas mask filters from the training type to the real type. We didn't like that very much, but none of us were exposed to any nerve agent that they were storing and incinerating at the time there at Dugway. However there was a incident where members of 2nd Rangers were training for high desert warfare where they had dug fox holes in an area that had been saturated with CS after many years of training exercise. There were several Rangers treated for CS related skin disorders. While we were concerned for those injured they banned us from digging fox holes.
