    The South Korean president's wife was assassinated by a North Korean agent from Japan in 1974. From Wikipedia: At 10:00 a.m., August 15, 1974, South Korean independence day, Yuk was shot and killed by Mun Segwang, a North Korean sympathizer from Japan, while Mun attempted to assassinate President Park Chung-hee. Mun's first shot at Park Chung-hee missed. Mun then exchanged shots with a Park security guard, Park Jong-gyu, but missed and killed Yuk instead. Park Jong-gyu's shot ricocheted off a wall and killed a high school student, Jang Bong-hwa.
