This is "Il Silenzio" not Taps, but is often mistaken for it. It was written in 1965 by trumpet player Nini Rosso and Guglielmo Brezza, its thematic melody being an extension of the same Italian Cavalry bugle call used by the Russian composer Tchaikovsky to open his Capriccio Italien (often mistaken for the U.S. military bugle call "Taps".) She plays this beautifully.

This isn't Taps. It's Il Silenzio. You can hear the echo to Taps in it. It is very haunting.

Thank the two who offered insight into source. It hurt for a moment to hear Taps redone.

This is not taps it's Il Silenzio And it is very easily mistaken for a 'longer version' of Taps.

As a SSGT. In the US MARINE CORPS, I have been to 4 Honoring the Fallen, This was requested at all four,,, plus a Ret GySgt Wife wanted this played.. The women like this better than the regular taps, they said it is not as harsh as regular taps. So what, it is not taps, stop bittiching
