The Fontana Unified School District is arming its school police with new high-performance rifles. The district bought 14 Colt rifles valued at $1,000 each. The weapons are designed to provide accuracy over long distances. "In the event of an active shooter on campus, this weapon provides our officers with the tools they need to respond appropriately and mitigate the loss of life," school police Chief Billy Green said.

An AR-15 is a "High Caliber Rifle" for "Long-Range Shooting"? It's a .22 on steroids...always with the media hype.

I think that the people that are reporting these stories should have a basic handle on guns, and how they work before they can report about it.

OK Media GET educated...Please tell me what a "High Caliber Rifle" is and what is "Long Range Targeted Shooting" Its an M-4 in all but name..she said they are used by US Special Ops...this is the main rifle issued by The Army, Air Force and Marines...This rifle is not "High Powered" by any is High Velocity which creates very fatal wounds if you use the right ammunition. but beyond 400 meters..its not much good...for a school environment I think its a bit much, they would have been better off with a Semi Auto Version of an MP-5..I can do 50 Meter(150 Ft) head shots all day long. I hope they at least use frangible ammunition that will not ricochet. MEDIA DUMMIES that's all I have to say about that.
