SEALs Remove Navy Jack On Uniforms

Clean Rating: Safe for work.

The "Don't Tread On Me" flag or First Navy Jack has flown on naval ships throughout our history including during the American Revolutionary War. The rattlesnake is especially significant and symbolic. The rattle has thirteen layers, signifying the original Thirteen Colonies. Official Navy instruction has authorized all naval ships to fly the flag throughout the duration of the War On Terror. Why is it then that senior personnel from within WARCOM and Naval Special Warfare are putting out instructions and memos stating that Navy SEALs are no longer authorized to wear the "Don't Tread on Me" patch on their combat uniforms along with other custom patches? Whether it be a symbol of our heritage or a sign to strike fear into our enemies, it is clear to me that someone sitting behind a desk needs to keep their politics or weaknesses away from the Teams and all other special operations personnel.

We learned about the Navy Jack in boot camp. It has no political ax to grind. It is part of the fabric of the United States Navy. A patriots statement to other countries. A reference point for all Navy Men and Women. And in some respect a reference point for other nations to know where we stand.

I think Pres. GW Bush referring to the wars since Oct. 2001 as a "crusade" was too much, but the First Navy Jack? The navy brass should ask former Nebraska senator and guv Bob Kerrey what he thinks. He earned the MoH as a Navy SEAL Lt.jg in 1969 for his actions in 'Nam.

By the way, Pres. Obama has ordered the death of more Islamic terrorists and al Queda thugs than Pres. GW Bush ever imagined. Obama is an American, born in Hawaii, not Kenya, so get over it. Liberal Democratic presidents all the way through 2020...

This sort of stuff is not new to the service. When I was in the Marines, in Nam, back in '69, the POD came out and said that we were to shine our boots and shine our brass. ALL of us agreed that this was going to far as it would make for any light shining off of us to make us perfect targets for the VC. So we openly defied it, and no one was ever prosecuted over it.

Well I guess if I made the comment I want to the Secret service and FBI would be after me so I won't but this is what happens when yo put a communist in charge of a "FREE" nation and if the avergae public person can't see that then they are truly blind.

We need to keep our Warrior Traditions and not bow down to the liberal, politically correct agenda of the Obama administration.

The fringe right too often create these stories which is why their credibility is almost zero anymore. Excerpts from Snopes.com: ...the only documentation that article presented for these claims was a reproduction of an e-mail message sent by a Senior Enlisted Advisor whose name was redacted, and a response an unidentified "friend" of the author (a former SEAL) was said to have received when he asked "leadership" about the reasons behind the regulation. And even if the presented e-mail about the new regulation were genuine, the reasons behind its issuance that were proffered in the article amount to little more than speculation. A few days later the Navy Times published an article in response to the Daily Caller piece which quoted U.S. Navy sources as stating that the Navy was "unable to confirm the validity of the email," and that even if it had been issued, it was in error and authorization for Naval Special Warfare personnel to wear the First Navy Jack patch had actually been expanded, not curtailed: The Navy is flatly denying claims that SEALs are no longer allowed to wear the First Navy Jack patch on their uniform. Swift boating at it's finest.

This is a LIE! Check out snopes.com Just more BS fodder from the extremists! Some people are such a herd of Lemmings that they believe anything they hear or read! Some "news" organizations (regardless of political orientation) will report anything they think will create drama, even before they research the true facts! The knee-jerk reactors on here need to take a closer look at how easily they can be brain-washed!

This patch replicates the First Navy Jack, authorized to be flown by Navy ships during the war on terror. I think the SEALs should be allowed to wear it on their uniform. Or will the current Administration soon return the red and white jack to the ships? I am surely glad I am retired. Chief Boring

OK, is this story true or not? It sounds like something the BHO admin. would do. Can someone find out for sure? It's like the AF academy "accidentally" leaving out "So help me God" from their cadet handbook. In three different oaths! Yeah, accidentally! Gen Johnson said she'd get it back in the next book, and has no idea how the phrase was edited out. Uh huh!

Unfortunately the those in power have no real concept of what it takes to be a soldier - the do or die thing to them is just a something a soldier says to make him self feel important. They direct without consensus of those who serve. What something means to them - just the political implications are important.
