Defense spending bonanza as we cycled through many troop carrier configurations since 9/11. Have to point out that none of this would have been needed without a mistaken nation building strategy that ceded the initiative to our adversaries. This clearly contradicted the Stryker doctrine whereby the US would rely on its traditional strengths in mobility and firepower while hanging onto the key principle of surprise. By that I mean, "get in, do your business, get out." Stand-off, patrol the skies, acquire new targets, and repeat as necessary. Less than ten fully alert combat brigades at any one time is all we would have needed for sustainment in Iraq and Afghanistan after initial conventional combat operations, and we would have maintained the initiative with the enemy never knowing when all hell would break loose and come down on their head. All at a much diminished human and material cost. In this environment, ground spotters would find MRAPs as the last thing they needed; instead, cover and concealment would dictate how they moved around (look like locals).

The MRAP should continue to be manufactured until we are out of the Middle East conflicts. "That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!" God bless every one of our troops.
