Pavelow Target Practice
Just another day in the office. The Sikorsky MH-53 Pave Low series is a long-range combat search and rescue (CSAR) helicopter for the United States Air Force. The series was upgraded from the HH-53B/C, variants of the Sikorsky CH-53 Sea Stallion. The HH-53 "Super Jolly Green Giant" was initially developed to replace the HH-3 "Jolly Green Giant". The helicopters later transitioned to Special Operations missions. The U.S. Air Force's MH-53J/M fleet was retired in September 2008 and was replaced by the CV-22B Osprey.

The MH-53 PAVE LOW can never be replaced by the V-22 or any other aerospace machine.
Providing the upgrades increase its range, speed and maneuverability as well as countermeasures for surface to air missiles and weapons platforms like the venerable .50 caliber MG and mini guns, this MH-53 will continue to serve as one of the best larger scale helicopters on the planet. Has anyone tested a rocket pod set up one this Sea Stallion variant ? It would increase weight obviously, but for close in tactical air support for SoCom Opns, that might not be such a bad trade off.
