The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs confirmed April 14, 2015 that it is investigating an unauthorized disclosure of personally identifiable information by one of its employees. The department mailed notification letters to the affected veterans and informed veterans' service organizations of the issue. The department is offering impacted veterans free credit monitoring for a year. Department officials said they became aware that one of its employees disclosed United States Department of Veterans Affairs disability claims information of 637 veterans. The information included some of the veterans' Social Security numbers.
