Senate Democrats are calling on the Department of Veteran Affairs to help student veterans navigate the collapse of Corinthian College. About 16,000 students attending the for-profit Corinthian College and its affiliates were left stranded when it abruptly closed on April 27, 2015. Over 5,700 of the students were veterans many of which were paying for their education with their GI Bill benefits. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), "Unfortunately, there are no provisions in the law that would allow VA to restore entitlement that has been used attending one of the schools."
