VA Insurance: Getting Assistance

If you need assistance or further information about government life insurance, you may call the VA Insurance Center in Philadelphia toll-free, 1-800-669-8477. Specialists are available between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., ET, to discuss premium payments, insurance dividends, changes of address, policy loans, naming beneficiaries and reporting the death of the insured or a beneficiary. After hours a caller may leave a recorded message, which will be answered on the next workday. If the policy number is unknown, send the veteran's VA file number, Social Security number, military serial number or military service branch and dates of service with date of birth to one of two VA insurance centers.

For states east of the Mississippi River, or for any policy which is being paid by a deduction from VA benefits, military retired pay or a checking account, send to:
