Peterson Air Force Base is a base located at Colorado Springs in El Paso County. It provides runways for the adjacent City of Colorado Springs Municipal Airport under a shared joint civil-military airport arrangement.
Air Force Space Command, created Sept. 1, 1982, is a major command headquartered at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. AFSPC defends North America through its space and intercontinental ballistic missile operations.
The 21st Space Wing is headquartered at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo., and is the Air Force's only organization providing missile warning and space control to unified commanders and combat forces worldwide.
