The Candy Bomber of Berlin

Gail Halvorsen, then a 27-year-old lieutenant, defied the Soviets, and his superiors, with handkerchief parachutes delivering candy and gum to the children of Berlin when he flew daily airdrop missions as part of Operation Vittles in 1948.
