BAE - Barrow Submarines Site Demolition

Share

BAE - Buildings in the central yard of BAE Systems site in Barrow in Furness have begun to be demolished as part of the £300m-plus redevelopment programme that will transform the way we build submarines. The video is a result of over 100,000 images that were taken over 4 weeks by photographer, Mike Vallance. Demolition specialists are in the process of flattening certain disused buildings in what is the first significant phase of activity in the eight year programme. The site’s old foundry and boiler shop are the first to be demolished, and it is anticipated that more than 90 per cent of materials such as timber, bricks, sandstone and metals will be recycled.
