TOML, a service dog with the Alaska Air National Guard's 212th Rescue Squadron, is believed to be the first of his kind in the U.S. military. A "facility dog," TOML performs as a service dog for multiple handlers in the unit and has deployed to Afghanistan. Air Guard Maj. Brock Roden, one of the handlers, demonstrated how TOML can be trained to locate and deliver specific objects. Both TOML and Roden are stationed on Joint Base Elemendorf Richardson, Alaska.
