CG Posthumously Awards Meritorious Service Medals

    The Coast Guard posthumously awarded the Meritorious Service Medal to QM3 Richard Gauld and QM2 Gary Crumly for their heroic actions, Oct. 24, 2015. On the night the Coast Guard Cutter Blackthorn sank, Gauld and Crumly gave their lives ensuring life jackets were readily available for their shipmates.
