Day 8 - Arctic Flight

An Air Station Kodiak HC-130 Hercules airplane crew conducts an Arctic Domain Awareness flight with scientists from NOAA and the University of Washington's Polar Science Center above the Arctic Circle in Alaska, July 16, 2013. The word Arctic conjures images of flat, icy and inhospitable landscapes devoid of all but the polar bears, seals, and other wild life captured on film in nature programs, but this is not the case. Many people do not know of the extensive research that is being conducted in the Arctic to better understand the changes that are occurring.
