Foam Fills F-16 Hanger in 2 Minutes!

Share

The Oklahoma Air National Guard's, 138th Fighter Wing in Tulsa Okla., recently upgraded their fire suppression systems in three of their aircraft maintenance facilities. The new foam generating fire suppression system took almost two years to install, and costs nearly $4 million. The system can fill the largest maintenance hangar in about two and half minutes, which would allow the foam to engulf an entire F-16 Fighting Falcon. Although the fire smothering foam is similar to dish soap, strict controls are in place to prevent any foam from entering local storm and sanitary waste systems.
