U.S. Marines with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 263 (Reinforced), 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), fly an MV-22 Osprey aircraft from the USS Bataan (LHD 5) to the USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) off the East Coast, at sea, Dec. 10. The flight was conducted to provide transportation for officials evaluating the MEU during the Composite Training Unit Exercise. The MEU is scheduled to deploy in early 2012 to the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group as a sea-based, expeditionary crisis response force capable of conducting amphibious missions across the full range of military operations.
