Hear the Difference

NASA has developed a software tool called the NASA Aircraft Noise Prediction Program (ANOPP), which is a proven way to 'auralize,' or render to audible sound, aircraft flyover noise using source noise predictions for the engines and airframe. This video simulation created using ANOPP demonstrates the dramatic noise difference between a current aircraft and a hybrid wing body aircraft with above-wing engines that could fly a couple of decades from now. Reducing aircraft noise for communities around airports is a major NASA Aeronautics goal.
