Regal Cinemas Plans Free Military Appreciation Preview of 'Megan Leavey' on May 30th

Megan Leavey is the movie based on the real-life story of Marine Military Police K9 handler Megan Leavey, who received a Purple Heart after she and military working dog Rex were injured by an IED while serving in Iraq in 2006.

Director Gabriela Cowperthwaite previously made the documentary Blackfish, the movie that exposed the lives of killer whales held in captivity and inspired many animal lovers to boycott or sever ties with the Sea World marine park. Megan Leavey avoids the sentimental clichés that usually sink dog movies. Both Megan and Rex are spiky personalities who bond and make each other better but neither loses their edge as they work together and Megan fights to adopt Rex after her service ends.

Regal Cinemas are hosting over 190 free screenings of the movie around the USA on May 30th in collaboration with AT&T THANKS and movie studios Bleecker Street and LD Entertainment. You can find a complete list of theaters at http://www.regmovies.com/promotions/megan-leavey-screening.

It's not strictly a military appreciation screening, rather it's a screening in honor of the military for AT&T customers. If you're an AT&T Mobile customer or a AT&T U-Verse TV, internet or home phone customer, you're eligible for up to 4 free tickets. Go to www.att.com/thanksmilitary to register. This offer doesn't seem to work for DirecTV or DirecTV Now customers even though AT&T owns them now, too. If you're not an AT&T customer, most of us know someone who is. Call them up today, because tickets are limited.

Megan Leavey opens in theaters on June 9th and we'll have interviews with the cast and director next week.
