When word first came out about Prometheus, our hopes weren't that high. Sure, Ridley Scott directed both Blade Runner and Alien (both probably in the all-time top ten sci-fi movies), but he hadn't made anything approaching a decent movie since 2001's Black Hawk Down (one of our favorite military-themed pictures ever) (and, yeah, we've watched American Gangster five times on cable but, seriously, it's not that good).

So now we get this new trailer for Prometheus and it really looks like a giant-budget movie made by the guy who gave us Blade Runner. There's a first-class cast with Noomi Rapace (the original Girl With the Dragon Tattoo), Idris Elba (Stringer Bell from The Wire), Michael Fassbender (the guy who almost got nominated for getting naked in Shameless), Guy Pearce (from The Hurt Locker & L.A. Confidential) and Charlize Theron (you know Charlize). There's a screenplay from Lost's Damon Lindelhof (who should be forgiven for Cowboys & Aliens - it's not that bad). And Ridley's so enthusiastic about the movie that he's already talking about a sequel.

Prometheus hits theaters on June 8th.
