Giving Veterans A New Skeleton? Sort Of. Help United Rentals Help Vets

FacebookXPinterestEmailEmailEmailShare

It’s one of the heartbreaking but wonderful things about our current conflicts: men and women with injuries that would’ve taken them from us during any other time in history live despite their wounds. For our community that means wonderful things – kids with daddies and mommies who make it home despite it all, spouses who are not widows and constant shows of resilience and strength.

But it also means extraordinary challenges. The injuries these folks deal with last a lifetime. There’s no miracle cure for the hurdles created by missing limbs or paralysis.

… Or is there?

Enter the SoldierStrong SoldierSuit, a combination of state of the art technologies that can best be described as a “wearable robot.” The technology means that some injured veterans who otherwise would never be able to do so can once again walk. It means mobility, possibility and a better quality of life for men and women who were willing to give up everything as part of our Armed Forces.

But the innovative technology can be costly, which is why many severely wounded vets rely on organizations like SoldierStrong for support. And Soldier Strong relies on us to come together and help make the whole thing possible.

Right now a few major players are doing something extraordinary to help with the SoldierSuit effort. United Rentals, which has a long background of supporting veterans through their business, teamed up with IndyCar rock star Graham Rahal for the season to make sure SoldierStrong has the cash they need to keep helping injured veterans through their Turns For Troops program. For every lap Rahal completes this racing season, United Rentals donate $50 to SoldierStrong, up to $100,000. So far Turns For Troops has donated $74,121 in support of injured veterans. Since $50 pays for one day of mobility for a veteran, this help is adding up fast.

Now here is where you come in. Robotic skeletons don’t happen on their own – supporting our injured men and women is something we can all pitch-in for.

You can donate here – easy – they also accept your old tablet, laptop, cell phone or iPod.

You can also help by sharing this campaign with your friends – send them the link to this blog post or click below to send out a tweet about what United Rentals and Turns or Troops are doing for SoldierStrong.
