Casting Call: The Choir

FacebookXPinterestEmailEmailEmailShare

Six months. Eight months. Twelve months. A deployment lasts a good long time. What if you had a project to do that would challenge you? Teach you? Energize you? What if it included other military spouses who might actually become dear friends? What do you think about taking part in “The Choir?”

“The Choir” is a reality TV show that documents a highly recognized, award-winning Choirmaster as he attempts to create choirs among ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. One of the best BBC episodes of the show featured a group of British military spouses as they came together over eight months to become a choir. Their final performance was telecast at the Royal Albert Hall in front of Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.

You could do that too — even if you are not a professional singer.  Shed Media, the casting company for the USA Network version of the show, is looking for American military spouses to take part.

“It’s open to all military wives,” noted casting associate Daarina Marie. “Vocal talent is welcome, but not required because there are a variety of ways to contribute to the choir’s success. Right now, we’re focused solely on the wives of our military men, but if anyone else is interested, it could possibly open up to others as we progress.”

You don't have to apply as a choir -- even one person is enough! The casting director is looking to stick with folks in the San Diego area, Manhattan and surrounding areas and near Junction City, Kan. for now. If you or your unit are looking for a deployment project and you are interested in sharing your story,  please contact.

Even if you don’t get on the show, putting together some kind of choir with your unit might be the kind of activity that can bring a group together.  Focused on a common goal, we lift each other’s spirits and give shape to the long weeks of deployment. Story Continues
