Missing Whitney and her "Star Spangled Banner"

Share

Around here we really appreciate excellent performances of our National Anthem. And why wouldn’t we? We’re proud supporters of our flag, country and what it stands for. A great public performance of “The Star Spangled Banner” makes us swell with pride.

By now you’ve probably heard that Whitney Houston was found dead Saturday night. Regardless of what she was to the rest of America, to me she was responsible for one of the most stirring performances of that oh so difficult to do justice to song. Never heard it? Now’s your chance. (Plus check out her rad headband and track suit ... ah, the 90s were awesome).

Many have tried to out-do her since then (some have done their best to do worse) -- but no one has topped her. Thanks, Whitney, for that national treasure.
