A Bad Night for Army Wives Star Kim Delaney

Share

There's a lot of internet buzz over "Army Wives" star Kim Delaney's appearance last night at an event honoring former Secretary of Defense Bob Gates. From the moment Delaney took the stage, it was clear that something was very, very wrong.

“Army Wives” star Kim Delaney was given the privilege of speaking at an event honoring U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia Thursday night, but mangled the prepared speech so badly, she had to be escorted off the stage.

Appearing disheveled, slurring her words and smiling at inappropriate times, at times the Philadelphia native and former “NYPD Blue” star appeared to have trouble reading the teleprompter.

Delaney spoke of her “struggle(s),” claiming to have “served in active military duty family for five years.”

To be fair, Kim Delaney's talk of her time in the "active military duty family" is getting a lot of attention. Most articles I've read have played up the fact that she spoke as if she were a real Army Wife. Although she was clearly on shaky ground, Delaney does go on to make clear that she's talking about her character on Army Wives, and not her real life.

Delaney was escorted off the stage within minutes after she began her speech.

I'm wondering who thought it was a good idea that she take the stage at all?

Whatever is going on, I hope Ms. Delaney gets adequate help.
