Why is it that you can live at a duty station for five years, and when you have less than two months left there, all of a sudden friends and family decide they need to come visit you?

Now I don't live anywhere particularly exciting, and still my brother and my uncle have both expressed sudden interest in racing out here to visit me. They've had nearly five years to do this, but all of a sudden it's a big deal. And it's not like I have anything to do, getting the house ready to PCS while wrangling a dog and a toddler while my husband is TDY...

I remember it was even worse in Germany. I had friends who had been stationed there for seven years, but when it came down to the wire, people started coming out of the woodwork to want to get chauffeured around Europe. I bet Hawaii is the same.
