John Avelis is a Navy spouse based in Japan. He's also our newest contributor here at SpouseBUZZ. While John was being trained to blog here, the earthquake and tsunami struck Japan. Since then, John and so many in the military community based in Sasebo have been spending their free time packing relief supplies which are sent North to the victims of the devastation.
Recently, Amy conducted a video interview with John, which you can see here. John has been a Navy spouse for 11 years and a Navy boyfriend for four years before that. His wife is a prior enlisted Navy Surface Warfare Officer with 22 years of total service between the reserves and active duty. They have a 3-year-old son and are currently stationed in Sasebo, Japan. When he's not chasing their son, John's usually running or brewing beer.
