Welcome Aboard, Copyright 1951

I've spent this rainy day enjoying a book given to my grandmother by my grandfather.  Titled Welcome Aboard, it was published in 1951 and he wrote inside, "To my loving wife, Annie, so that we may avoid the "Rocks and Shoals" peculiar to the social life within the service."

I always find interesting (and very dated) tidbits in this book that was probably so helpful when the information was current.

Today's nugget, from the section on Government Quarters:  "they usually have a living room, dining room, kitchen, two bedrooms, and bath.  Quarters for senior officers may have three bedrooms and two baths."

Something to think about, huh?
