The Heart

Share

February is Heart Health month and it is almost at a close.  I would like to add something to what has already been written about heart health.

To the emotional/mental side of the heart, I add...some commentary on the military spouse/parent's heart.

Ours are big hearts.  We embrace military families in difficult situations as our own even without having ever met them.  That is a niggling little detail.

We problem solve with spouses and parents because they are part of our extended family.  We know that there but, for the grace of God, go us.

We worry, cook, contemplate, pray and mourn with our extended family members.  We understand when one is overwhelmed and do our best not to make matters worse or add to the stress.  We are conscious of these factors and seek to be a part of the solution, not part of the problem.

We care.  We care because we are all in this together.

This is not to say that we are better than other communities.  We're not but I am very proud to be a part of THIS community.  For better or worse, I wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm off my soapbox but I have spent the last week watching people pull together towards a common goal and I just couldn't let that slip by without a comment.  Even if you don't know the particulars of what I'm talking about, you know what I mean.  You're part of it even if you don't know it.
