He too ate quietly, taking in the talk between his driver, the gunner, the RTO, and other members of the squad, occasionally checking to make sure his M16 was still set securely in the rack at the end of the table.
Yesterday, I was blessed. My DH is home this Thanksgiving, and we sat across from one another and we prayed, for those men and women deployed.
And when it got quiet, we were both thinking about the Thanksgivings past, and present. Trying to do the math and counted ourselves as lucky this year.
